The action resumed with the players returning to ship to retrieve Avarice-O. After hearing the information Bobacca and Coruscant Jim got, Avarice-O decided the mining office needed a second look. When the players returned there, the secretary had no new information but suggested they talk to her boss. This was quickly accomplished and the players found out that Tannen was looking to rent some mining equipment and head out into the canyons. A quick stop by the rental place confirmed she rented a speeder and a mining laser about 2-3 weeks prior. A visit to the local cartographer revealed that she acquired a map to sector 5. Just to be on the safe side Avarice-O got maps to all the sectors and the players were on their way.
There were 4 points of interest in sector 5, an abandoned mine, a settlement, an Afekian tribal encampment and a mining outpost. After a quick debate (AKA high roll wins), it was off to the abandoned mine. This proved to be a bad choice as the mines looked like they had been visited recently but it turned out to be a nasty monster that almost took out Avarice-O and Jim. A quick trip the mining outpost for healing a clues followed, then it was decided to head to the encampment.
The encampment was deserted but it looked like it had been attacked by something and the people had fled back the way the players came. It was decided to check out the settlement and off the players went again. On the way to the settlement, Coruscant Jim noticed a wrecked speeder off in a side canyon, so the players stopped to investigate. All signs pointed to this speeder being Tannen’s so the players kept going down the side canyon. They came upon a dead end with what looked like a hole cut into the rock face and a mining laser setup in front of it. It was quickly apparent the battery in the mining laser was dead so Bobacca used the power from the speeder to get it started again and cut a bigger hole in the wall. Bobacca and Avarice-O investigated the hole and found a weird panel that looked like it wanted a code or something. After the thing shut off, the 2 of them were attacked by 2 spider looking robots. A lot of firepower from Avarice-O (and a little bit from Bobacca) dispatched the robots.
